Hengli Heavy Industries' Second-Phase Project Breaks Ground: Focusing on the Construction of VLCC, Liquefied Gas Carriers, Ultra-Large Container Ships, FPSOs, Offshore Wind Power Installations, and Drilling Platforms.
On August 15th(today), Hengli Heavy Industries celebrated the groundbreaking of its second-phase project at the Hengli Heavy Industry Industrial Park on Changxing Island, Dalian. This milestone marks another significant step forward in Hengli's ambition to become a global leader in high-end shipbuilding, reinforcing the group's commitment to bolstering China's real economy and developing new productivity.
Launched in 2022, Hengli Heavy Industries quickly earned recognition from leading domestic and international shipowners, becoming a vibrant example of revitalizing idle assets and expanding effective investment in Northeast China.
The second-phase expansion will focus on building high-value, green vessels and advanced offshore engineering equipment, including VLCC, Large liquefied gas carriers, ultra-large container ships, floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs), offshore wind power installations, and drilling platforms. Upon full operation, Hengli Heavy Industries is expected to process 2.3 million tons of steel annually and produce 180 engines per year.
Notably, Hengli Heavy Industries has entered into a collaboration with GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz), a leading supplier of LNG cargo containment systems. Thibaut Raeis, GTT's representative, shared that earlier this year, GTT began working with Hengli Heavy Industries. Today, they have officially signed an agreement, and both companies will begin evaluating and preparing to build LNG dual-fuel ships and other LNG/ gas carriers utilizing GTT's technology in the coming months.
With this project, Hengli Heavy Industries is set to establish a new industry benchmark, contributing to the revitalization of Northeast China and China's maritime ambitions. The group remains committed to its philosophy: "Either do nothing or do the best." Hengli Heavy Industries will continue to advance its projects with speed and precision, driving the future of shipbuilding and offshore engineering.
