Huangpu Wenchong Unveils New Green Ship Designs & Secures Orders!
On October 10, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, introduced its latest lineup of eco-friendly and energy-efficient ships at a launch event in Shanghai. The newly developed designs not only received Approval in Principle (AiP) certificates from renowned classification societies but also attracted the first batch of intent orders from shipowners.
The launch showcased the SWAN series of container ships, including:
1300TEU Ice-Class Strengthened Container Ship: Designed for European routes, meeting 1A or 1C ice-class requirements. Features a 40%+ Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) reduction. Angelos Tyrogalas FYR.
2400TEU Methanol Dual-Fuel Container Ship: Optimized for efficiency, with fuel consumption as low as 40 tons/day at 19 knots. Methanol endurance of up to 10,000 nautical miles.
3500TEU & 5000TEU Container Ships: Offers multiple alternative fuel designs, including ammonia dual-fuel. The 5000TEU version features advanced energy-saving technologies, achieving over 50% EEDI reduction.
The WHALE series bulk carriers were also introduced:
82,500 DWT & 85,000 DWT Bulk Carriers : Certified by ABS, BV, CCS, and NK, these ships meet new regulatory standards with options for energy-saving technologies and alternative fuel designs.
Additionally, the 43,000m3 LPG/NH3 Carrier received significant attention. The ship is designed for flexibility and efficiency with an optimized hull, wide-body layout, and ammonia dual-fuel propulsion. Huangpu Wenchong signed a construction intent contract with Tianjin Southwest Maritime, making it the first potential customer for this ship type.
